Preparation of spherical magnesium carbonate
Spherical magnesium carbonate is usually prepared by chemical precipitation or spray drying.
Chemical precipitation method:
Dissolve magnesium hydroxide or magnesium oxide in water to form a magnesium hydroxide solution.
Pass carbon dioxide into the magnesium hydroxide solution to react magnesium hydroxide to form magnesium carbonate precipitation.
Heat the precipitate under stirring to crystallize it into a spherical structure.
Wash, dry and grind the precipitate to obtain spherical magnesium carbonate.
Spray drying method:
Dissolve magnesium hydroxide in water to form a magnesium hydroxide solution.
Spray the magnesium hydroxide solution into a hot drying chamber.
The atomized droplets evaporate rapidly in the hot air flow to form spherical magnesium carbonate particles.
Collect and dry the particles to obtain spherical magnesium carbonate.
Application of spherical magnesium carbonate
Due to its unique spherical structure and excellent properties, spherical magnesium carbonate is widely used in the following fields:
Medical field: as an antacid, antidiarrheal agent and laxative.
Cosmetic industry: as a filler, oil control agent and sunscreen.
Industrial field: as a flame retardant, thermal insulation material and sound absorbing material.
Food industry: as food additives, hydrophobic agents and thickeners.
Agricultural field: as soil conditioners, fertilizers and feed additives.
Environmental field: as wastewater treatment agents and adsorbents.
Other applications:
Rubber and plastic industry: as fillers and reinforcing agents.
Catalysts and adsorbents: used in various chemical reactions and exhaust gas purification.
Ultrasonic and acoustic materials: used for sound insulation and noise reduction.
Coatings and paint industry: as matte agents and anti-caking agents.
