- As an alkalizing agent, desiccant, color retention agent, anti-caking agent, carrier, leavening agent, and acidity regulator. EEC approved applications include: table salt, powdered sugar, acidified single cream, milk, ice cream, and biscuits. It is used to prepare chemical leavening agents. The residual amount in food shall not exceed 0.5% (Japan). Used to prevent table salt from caking, with an addition amount of 0.1% to 0.3%.
