Technology development trend of silicon steel grade magnesium oxide

The coating process of magnesium oxide for silicon steel coating mainly includes the following

1. Application of high-purity magnesium oxide

The silicon steel industry has increasingly higher requirements for the purity of magnesium oxide, and the magnesium oxide content is generally required to reach more than 98% to reduce the impact of impurities on magnetic properties.

Research shows that high-purity magnesium oxide can improve the magnetic induction intensity of silicon steel and effectively reduce iron loss.

2. Research and development of ultrafine magnesium oxide

Ultrafine magnesium oxide is prepared through nano-level control technology to improve its dispersibility and activity, optimize coating uniformity, and improve magnetic permeability.

The D50 particle size is optimized to 2~5 µm, which can effectively improve the stability of Goss orientation and promote grain growth.

3. Low hygroscopic magnesium oxide

Traditional magnesium oxide is easy to absorb moisture, affecting storage and coating stability.

Through surface modification (such as silane treatment, coating treatment, etc.), the hygroscopicity of magnesium oxide is reduced, and the coating performance and stability are improved.

4. Environmentally friendly production process

The preparation of traditional magnesium oxide mostly adopts the calcination method of magnesite, which has high energy consumption and large emissions.

Future development directions include:

Preparing high-purity magnesium oxide using seawater method to reduce dependence on ore mining;

Low-temperature synthesis method to reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption.
